THINK Together (www.thinktogether.org)
is a large non-profit after school learning program for students in Southern
California. THINK Together is accepting applications for a Middle School Site Coordinator
in our Orange County Region.
A Site Coordinator manages a THINK Together program at a public school.
The pay for this position starts at $33,280(DOE), plus full benefits (medical,
dental and vision). Training, curriculum, and materials provided.

About THINK Together:

THINK Together (www.thinktogether.org),
is a non-profit organization and is one of the largest providers of quality academically – focused after school programs in California; serving more than 30,000 at risk students every school day at 220+ sites throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. Each afternoon, students participate in academic enrichment with an emphasis on improving language arts and math skills; receive homework assistance; and take part in dynamic physical activity combined with nutrition education. In partnership with schools, parents and the communities we server, we provide a fun and safe place for students to learn and grow. We strive to help students close the academic achievement gap, build confidence and prepare for the future.

The Orange County Region works in these cities:
Santa Ana,
Tustin,
Costa Mesa,
and Orange,

Experience working in an after-school program and with Middle School students is REQUIRED for this position.



Job Summary:
A Site Coordinator manages a
THINK Together
after school program
at a single public school in which, typically, at least 50% of the children come
from low-income households. Site Coordinators make available high-quality afterschool programs for children and youth that promote; 1) physical and emotional safety, 2) positive student-to-student and student-to-adult relationships, 3) engaging and relevant academic and enrichment activities, 4) growth in academic achievement, 5) and opportunities for youth leadership. As a Site Coordinator, you will act as a role model for children and youth, and provide staff development to Program Leaders to ensure that they are prepared to teach, help, inspire, and nurture our students. The goal of the Site Coordinator is to help each student develop the life-skills needed to navigate and strengthen the connections between the school day, family and community.

Typically, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Salary:
Starting at 33,280, depending on education, experience and assignment

Description Of Duties:

  • Implement a program incorporating
    THINK Together-selected
    curricula, behavioral standards and policies and procedures for ensuring quality
    content, student safety, and appropriate management practices – students
    participate in snack time, homework help, and a variety of recreational,
    educational and enrichment activities
  • Implement a program incorporating THINK Together-selected curricula, behavioral standards and policies and procedures for ensuring quality content, student safety, and appropriate management practices.
  • Ensure the THINK Together four core agreements are implemented:
    1. Be responsible
    2. Be respectful
    3. Be ready
    4. Have fun
  • Develop weekly schedules and lesson plans with staff for students to ensure the program meets all requirements defined for afterschool.
  • Provide leadership for part-time site staff, students, and volunteers; and, provide the necessary coaching, training, and performance assessment to ensure quality programming is delivered to our students.
  • Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, school staff, and parents on a regular basis regarding program activities and student needs.
  • Improve quality of homework assistance and student enrichment by recruiting and integrating volunteers and community-based partners into to the site’s program.
  • Build student leadership skills by promoting their ability to host visitors and explain the program at anytime.
  • Foster an engaging environment that students, program staff, and volunteers want to be part of every day.
  • Ensure student safety by assisting in set up, break down, and ongoing maintenance in an effort to keep the school or community site clean and orderly.
  • Ensure that staff members are recruited, trained and assigned in order to strengthen the effectiveness of the program for students.
  • Participates fully in Site Coordinator staff development and training.
  • Ensure students have appropriate program supplies, materials, and access to special events by distributing the site budget effectively.
  • Professional
    Qualifications
    :

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related
    field required for school-based programs
  • At least 1 year in supervisory or
    leadership position
  • Ability to work cooperatively and
    collaboratively with staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents
    and community leaders
  • Familiarity with quality criteria for
    after school programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and
    demonstrate sensitivity to others
  • Ability to speak and write Standard
    English appropriate in a public school setting
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent management skills
  • Public Speaking skills
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for at least 4-6
    hours per day, lift at least 10 pounds, reach and bend for at least 4-6 hours
  • Other activities will include normal
    office physical requirements
  • Requirements:

  • Support our English-learner population by being bilingual Spanish
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and
    Saturdays
  • Willing to travel to off-site staff development trainings and events
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office to ensure appropriate compliance reporting
  • Must pass Live Scan (fingerprinting), Background Check, and Tuberculosis Test
  • Must receive final approval from school principal and/or district after-school liason
